Senator Domenici was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972. He served on the Albuquerque Commission from 1966 to 1970, and as Chairman of the Commission (equivalent to mayor) from 1967 to 1970. He chairs the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
