Transgender Military Policy
President Trump, in late August, directed the military to end the recruitment of transgender individuals into the armed forces. The President’s memorandum also banned the Department of Defense from using its resources to provide medical treatment for transgender servicemen and women currently serving in the military. “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail,” the President said.
