This case was granted certiorari on September 26, 2000, and was affirmed on May 29, 2001. In a 7-to-2 decision, the Court ruled that professional sports organizations are required to grant selective waivers of their rules of competition in order to accommodate disabled athletes — in this case, allowing the use of a motorized cart during a professional golf tournament.
