Richard Stevens is a member of the Islands’ eight-person Legislative Council representing a rural part of the Islands. The following is excerpted from remarks by Councilor Stevens during the June 15, 2006, meeting of the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization. In Argentina,Europeans arrived and over time replaced the indigenous populations.
