Ambassador Tichaona Jokonya

The Zimbabwean ambassador requested permission to speak at the open United Nations Security Council meeting on the Iraq situation. Zimbabwe is a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, which had asked for the meeting. Zimbabwe joined the UN on August 25, 1980. Tichaona Jokonya was named UN Ambassador in 1992 and left the post at the end of October 2002.
