Neil Gorsuch possessed a fairly conventional résumé for a Republican president’s Supreme Court nominee. The 49-year-old had a solid reputation as conservative judge on the Fourth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. He was a member of the Federalist Society, considered a guarantee that his jurisprudence included a strict interpretation of constitutional language and the original intent of the Founding Fathers.
