Ted Cruz, Counsel of RecordIn 1961, the Texas Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles donated a 6-foot-tall, 3-foot-wide pink granite monument inscribed with a number of religious and patriotic symbols and a nonsectarian version of the Ten Commandments. The Legislature accepted the gift and designated a space for it in the northwest quadrant of the Capitol grounds, near a number of other statues and monuments commemorating war veterans and women pilgrims, among others.
