The Center for International Policy was founded in 1975 to promote a U.S. foreign policy that reflects democratic values. Through research, education, and direct public advocacy, CIP works to define and put into practice a more sympathetic, farsighted, and nonmilitaristic approach to the developing world. In 1999, CIP joined with Demilitarization for Democracy, a leading "action tank" in the fight against arms transfers, training, and other U.S. military and financial support for undemocratic governments.
