Recent Action by Congress on Jobs for Veterans
In his January 2012 State of the Union address, President Obama proposed the concept of a veterans jobs corps, describing it as “enlisting our veterans in the work of rebuilding our Nation.” In early February, the President announced that he would push for grants to communities to hire veterans as first responders and law enforcement officers, and a Veterans Jobs Corps conversation program. The Jobs Corps would put veterans to work restoring habitats and maintaining public and facilities.
