Representative Holt, of the Twelfth District of New Jersey, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1998. He was a professor at Swarthmore College from 1981 to 1989 and Assistant Director of the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab from 1989 to 1998. He serves on the Committee on Education and the Workforce, the Committee on Resources, and the Permanent Committee on Intelligence, where he is the Ranking Minority Member on the Intelligence Policy Subcommittee.
