The United States uses roughly 20 million barrels of oil a day, making it the world’s largest oil consumer. It also produces around 8 million barrels of oil a day and has nearly 22 billion barrels of oil in proven reserve. Guy Caruso has served as the administrator for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA), an independent statistical and analytical agency, since February 2002.
