Recent Action in the Congress on the Internet and National Security
The Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the National Security Agency have concluded that the Russian Government pursued a multifaceted campaign intended to disrupt and delegitimize the 2016 U.S. elections. In a January 2017 report, Assessing Russian Activities and Intentions in Recent US Elections, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence described a variety of covert and overt activities sponsored by Russian intelligence agencies and attributed these efforts to the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
