On behalf of the people and government of Armenia, and as a descendant of genocide survivors, I would like to express our appreciation for the efforts of those who passed this resolution 20 years ago. It has been an interesting coincidence that this anniversary comes at a time when the U.S. Congress, too, is considering a resolution and there is much talk about the value — or danger — of third parties engaging in what are said to be old historic issues.
