Senator Reid was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986. He served in the Nevada State Assembly from 1969 to 1970, as Lieutenant Governor of Nevada from 1970 to 1974, and as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1982 to 1987.
