Senator Kennedy was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1962. He was Western States Coordinator for John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 1960, and served as Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He chairs the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. He is also a member of the Judiciary Committee (and Chair of the Immigration Subcommittee within that committee), the Armed Services Committee (and Chair of the Subcommittee on Seapower with that committee), and the Joint Economic Committee.
