Impact of Obamacare on Coverage
Reduction in the Number of Uninsured
In March 2015, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) estimated that 16.5 million uninsured people had gained health insurance coverage as several of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) coverage provisions took effect. Using updated data, ASPE now estimates that 17.6 million uninsured people have gained health insurance coverage.
