Barbara Underwood is Acting Solicitor General, pending the arrival of President George W. Bush’s choice for the position, Theodore B. Olson. She was named Deputy Solicitor General on March 11, 1998. Prior to that, she was a U.S. Attorney in Brooklyn, New York, and a professor at Yale Law School. She received her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1969.
