The present case involves a challenge to the current congressional redistricting map enacted in Louisiana on the grounds that one of the congressional districts created by the Louisiana state Legislature — District 6 — is an impermissible racial gerrymander in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
