Stephen Joel Trachtenberg has been president of The George Washington University since 1988. He previously served for 11 years as President of the University of Hartford and for eight years at Boston University as Vice President for Academic Services and Academic Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Earlier, he was a Special Assistant to the U.S. Education Commissioner, Department of Health, Education, and Welfare.
