Representative Rahall, of the Third District of West Virginia, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1976. He served as a staff assistant to U.S. Senator Robert Byrd (WV-D) from 1971 to 1974. Subsequently, he was on the Board of Directors of Rahall Communications Corp. (1974 to 1976), President of Mountaineer Tour and Travel Agency (1974 to 1976), and President of WV Broadcasting Corp. (1980 to present).
