Senator Levin was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1978. He was Michigan Assistant Attorney General and General Counsel to the Michigan Civil Rights Commission from 1964 to 1967, Detroit Chief Appellate Defender from 1967 to 1979, a member of the Detroit City Council from 1969 to 1977, and President of the Detroit City Council from 1973 to 1977. He chairs the Armed Services Committee. He is also a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee (and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Investigations within that committee), the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, and the Select Committee on Intelligence….
