Recent Action on Draft Registration
Debate on the military draft has been dormant since President Gerald Ford suspended compulsory registration in 1975. However, with U.S. Army combat brigades now serving on active duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Korea, and the Balkans and additional troops stationed elsewhere around the globe rumors and concerns have begun to circulate about the possibility of a revived military draft.
