The following are questions and answers about the functioning of the new Human Rights Council, as approved by the UN General Assembly on March 16, 2006.How Many Members Will the New Human Rights Council Have? The new Council will consist of 47 members, as compared to the 53-member Commission on Human Rights. How Will Members Be Elected?
