The following is excerpted from Senator Inhofe’s June 18, 2010, statement on the floor of the U.S. Senate. On June 17, the Senate Armed Services Committee held its first hearing on the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START. During the hearing, Secretary [of State Hillary] Clinton, Secretary [of Defense Robert M.] Gates, [Energy Secretary Steven] Chu, and [Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff] Admiral [Michael] Mullen all emphasized the importance of verifying the treaty….
