WTO General Council Approves Vietnam Membership

Vietnam is setto become the WTO’s 150th member following a decision by the GeneralCouncil on November 7, 2006, to approve the Southeast Asian country’smembership agreement. Vietnamnow has to ratify the deal, and it will become a member 30 days after it hasinformed the WTO that it has ratified.             The decision ends over 11 years ofpreparation, including eight years of negotiation.
