The United States has an estimated stockpile of 10.4 million antipersonnel landmines, although it has not produced any since 1997. In 2002, the United States donated $76.9 million to mine action programs in 37 countries. Lincoln Bloomfield, Jr., is the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs. He was appointed Special Representative to the President and Secretary of State for Mine Action on November 30, 2001.
