George Warrington, President and CEO

Amtrak, formerly known as the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, was created in 1971 by the National Rail Passenger Service Act. It serves more than 500 stations in 45 States and operates more than 22,000 route miles. George Warrington was appointed President and CEO of Amtrak in 1998. He joined the organization in 1994 as President of its Northeast Corridor business unit. From 1992 to 1994, he served as the Executive Director and President of the Delaware River Port Authority and Port Authority Transit Corporation.
