Recent Action on Impeachment
On September 9, 1998, Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr informed the Congress that he had found "substantial and credible information that may constitute grounds for impeachment" of President Clinton. His office delivered to the House a report, with supporting evidence, outlining 11 possible grounds for impeachment. The independent counsel’s report was forwarded to the House Judiciary Committee. On October 8, by a vote of 258 to 176, the full House approved resolution H.Res. 581, authorizing an inquiry into the report’s allegations.House Judiciary Committee Action.
