For only the second time in the history of our Nation, theHouse is poised to impeach a sitting President. The JudiciaryCommittee Democrats uniformly and resoundingly dissent.We believe that the President’s conduct was wrongful in attemptingto conceal an extramarital relationship. But we do not believethat the allegations that the President violated criminal lawsin attempting to conceal that relationship — even if proventrue — amount to the abuse of official power which is anhistorically rooted prerequisite for impeaching a President.
