Israel's Barrier in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

The Government of Israel has since 1996 considered plans to halt infiltration into Israel from the central and northern West Bank, with the first Cabinet approval of such a plan in July 2001. After a sharp rise in Palestinian terror attacks in the spring of 2002, the Cabinet approved Government Decision 64/B on April 14, 2002, which called for construction of 80 kilometers of the Barrier in the three areas of the West Bank.
